My name is Kim Walton and I am a counsellor practicing in Crossgates, East Leeds. I deliver face to face and online counselling to individuals, couples and families. I have had additional training to enable me to work with neurodivergent clients. As my initial training was provided by Relate, I am a Relate Certified Counsellor and as such have many years experience as a couples counsellor. (Relationship Counsellor) I have a Post Graduate and Masters Degree in Relationship work and have also trained to work online.
I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I am a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I abide by their Ethical Framework which includes having regular supervision to support my work.
In my private practice I deliver face to face couselling in Crossgates, East Leeds. My room is based in a purpose built office at my home and this is within easy reach from Seacroft, Halton, Roundhay, Kippax, Garforth, Oakwood and Moortown. There is parking if required. Online counselling can also be delivered to those that don't live in the area or are unable to leave their home easily.
The initial session would give you an opportunity to explain what your concerns are and why you think counselling might be helpful at this stage in your life /lives . You will also get a sense of how it feels to share your concerns. From that session I will be able to establish what the challenges are that are being faced and can generally offer hope about how on-going counselling will be helpful to you. If you decide to have more sessions that will be an opportunity to explore your issues, emotions, fears, relationships and behaviours. The issues may impact on you alone or may also be having a negative impact on those around you. The counselling sessions will help you to discover how and why things have or are impacting on you in the way they are, understand what change is possible and ultimately help you to move forward in a way that is helpful for you.
You will be helped to feel comfortable and safe to reflect on and talk about your concerns. Your concerns may be regarding the past, the present or the future. As a couple or family there will be opportunities to have sessions both together and individually.
The list of issues I have helped people explore is long and varied and includes the following:-
- Relationships - including couples, partners, families, and friends
- Parenting (including becoming grandparents)
- Low Self Esteem / Anxiety
- Bereavement / Loss
- Redundancy
- Impact of addictions on a Relationship
- Sexual / Intimacy issues
- Depression / Low mood
- Issues with Work / College
- Communication / Conflict resolution
- Divorce / Separation
There are many impacts on peoples lives from the Coronavirus pandemic and cost of living crisis. If you have or are struggling with these impacts, talking them through with a counsellor may be helpful.
