Qualifications and Approach
What qualifications do I have?
I have an M.A. Degree in Relationship Therapy (BACP accredited course) and I am a Relate Certified Counsellor. (I am also trained to work with young people and children but currently only working with adults). I have had additional training to deliver counselling online where required.
My training enables me to work with couples, families, individuals and young people.
I am fully insured and also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)
As is the requirement for any counsellor I attend regular supervision and also continued personal development days to enhance my practice and my knowledge.
What type of counselling do I practice?
I have been trained to work in an integrative way which means I have developed my model of working from lots of different theories, but primarily psychodynamic theory and systemic theory. This type of counselling means I am working to understand how peoples past experiences and relationships influence their current situation / behaviour's / relationships /beliefs and abilities to deal with what's happening in the present.
In couple and family work the focus is very much on the way people are relating to each other and what influences each others emotions, behaviours and needs.
In all my work I have a flexible, collaborative, sensitive and non-judgemental approach.
